Taxi and private hire accident claims
Keep earning after an accident that wasn't your fault, with help built around licensed drivers.
If you drive a taxi or private hire vehicle and another driver caused the accident, you can usually claim from their insurer for repairs, lost earnings and, if you need one, a licensed replacement vehicle so you can keep working. Injury claims are handled by solicitors at NJS Law.

Taxi and private hire FAQs
Can I get a replacement taxi after a non-fault accident?
Often, yes. A replacement taxi or private hire vehicle can usually be arranged on credit hire, but it must be licensed by your local council before you use it for work, which can affect timing.
Can I claim for lost earnings?
Yes. If you couldn't work while your vehicle was off the road, or because of an injury, lost earnings can usually be claimed. App statements, booking records and bank statements help.
What if my passenger was injured?
Your passengers can usually make their own claim against the insurer of the driver who caused the accident.
Will a non-fault claim affect my taxi insurance?
Claiming from the at-fault driver's insurer shouldn't count against your own policy, but insurers can treat accidents differently at renewal, so it's worth checking with yours.
Do I need to tell the council about the accident?
Many licensing authorities require you to report accidents involving a licensed vehicle within a set time. Check your council's licence conditions.
Off the road and losing fares?
Tell us what happened and we'll explain how we can help get you working again.
Every claim is different. Repairs and replacement vehicles are provided by independent companies we work with, and we'll tell you about any arrangement with them before you agree to anything.
