What happened
Our client was going about an ordinary day, heading out to do their shopping. They were using an island pedestrian crossing when a vehicle hit them and ran them over.
They suffered two bleeds on the brain, bruising across their whole body and three broken bones in their right ankle, which still cause them pain. Constant pain in their right knee left them relying on others for help with everyday tasks.

How we helped
Solicitors at NJS Law brought the claim against the driver’s insurer. We arranged independent specialist reports on the brain injury, the ankle fractures and the knee, and included the help they needed from others in the claim.
We then negotiated until the claim was resolved.

The outcome
Our client received £85,000 in compensation.

Questions people ask
Can I claim for help from family and friends after an accident?
Yes. If your injuries mean you need help with everyday tasks, the value of care given by family and friends can usually be included in your claim, even if they were not paid for it. Paid care and future care needs can also be claimed.
How are serious injury claims valued?
Compensation reflects the injuries themselves, how long recovery takes and how they affect daily life. It can also cover financial losses such as lost earnings, care, travel and future treatment. Specialist medical evidence is used to support each part of the claim.
